Final Version: GDC 2015 Game Narrative Review Platinum-winning Essay
In this essay, I analyzed the narrative design in Dragon Age: Origins, paying particular attention to how its writers interpreted sexuality and gender identity. Only three students are selected by the GDC Narrative Summit Committee at the Platinum level each year. In March 2015, I shared my analysis at the Game Developers Conference in a poster session. I had the pleasure of working with several game teams this year, and the following is a list of awards that four of these games received during the 2015 DigiPen Student Game Awards ceremony. The DigiPen student body voted on the winners of these awards. I am honored to have worked with these talented people, and each and every person put their heart into these games. You may watch the section of the awards ceremy during which I give a brief speech to accept the team's award f

DigiPen Student Showcase Trailer - LIGHTMARE / Team Negative Gravity
Please take a look at the official DigiPen Student Showcase trailer for Lightmare, a 3D exploration game in which player fights to escape a warped shadow world. I had the opportunity to expand my voice acting range by communicating initial confusion, subtle fear, and increasing dread. In addition, I worked on differentiating between light- and medium-impact punching vocalizations. I've really enjoyed working with this team to give another strong and inspirational female chara
DigiPen Student Showcase Trailer - MIRACULOUS / Team Irradiance
Please take a look at the official DigiPen Student Showcase trailer for Miraculous, a 2D exploration game in which the player is a miracle cure that must navigate the inside of a dying human body in order to eradicate illness. For this game, I developed the narrative: two doctors believe they have created a cure that will revive the patient, and the game is a demonstration to a hospital's board to prove that the cure is effective. I wrote the dialogue that is featured at the

Dialogue & VO for MIRACULOUS / Team Irradiance
The following is the dialogue for the introduction, epilogue, and player's thoughts in the game Miraculous by Team Irradiance. Although the player's VO has not yet been recorded, please listen to the introduction and the epilogue. I. INITIAL DEVELOPMENT Where is the Beginning? The player can hear the

Please also take a look at the game's Facebo
DigiPen Student Showcase Trailer - RELIC / Team Synaptic Sugar
Please take a look at the official DigiPen Student Showcase trailer for Relic, a third-person action-adventure space opera on which I worked as part of Team Synaptic Sugar. The player traverses an ancient alien spacecraft in order to recover lost artifacts and prevent galactic disaster. As a member of the narrative team, I wrote dialogue, wrote descriptions for in-game collectibles, and helped develop the game's narrative. During a weekly Writers' Room, I collaborated with t

Nobody Puts Baby in an Airport - Extraordinary Events & the Plight of the Ambivert
I. Loneliness There are few times when I feel more alone than when I fill out my taxes or go to the airport. The reasoning for the former is clear. There are only so many times a woman can mark herself as “single” or “unmarried” in a tedious stream of rigidly objective documents before it begins to wear on her. For her singledom to really sink in. Yes, it’s simpler when your finances are truly your own. You’re independent and uncomplicated. But what if you’re feeling ready fo

ProjectFUN Preview Day: Teacher for a Day
On March 28th, I taught a high school-level class on traditional game design as part of DigiPen's ProjectFUN Preview Day. I structured this class with the intent of teaching students about probability through making dice games, showing them a small section of ProjectFUN's "Fundamentals of Game Design" summer course. I directed four TAs and worked with another teacher who taught the digital portion of the class. My staff badge overlaid on the agenda I made for the class! The c
