Many thanks to Rolling Stone and Glixel for covering my Game Developers Conference Game Narrative Summit talk on elevating existing tropes to create more empowered and inclusive characters in games! I really appreciate their amplification of the need for game writers to tell new stories and my suggestions for getting started with that pursuit. This talk is based on a chapter I wrote for the academic anthology, Digital Love: Romance and Sexuality in Games.
You can take a look at the Rolling Stone/Glixel article here and my PowerPoint presentation on the GDC Vault here.
There were a lot of informative and practical talks at the Game Narrative Summit this year; if you have access to the GDC Vault, I definitely recommend checking them out.
